Panthers secure first victory

Oregon girls tennis wrapped up its first dual win of the season last week, holding off Wisconsin Dells on the road.

Oregon 4, Wisconsin Dells 3
Traveling to Wisconsin Dells on Thursday, the Panthers secured wins at No. 3 and 4 singles and their top two doubles spots to earn a 4-3 non-conference win.

Lauren Bucheger rolled through a 6-0, 6-0 straight-set victory at No. 4 singles to set the tone early.

It was a pace nearly equaled by the Panthers top two doubles team as Kathryn McMannes and April Cook and Melissa Eyers and Jenna Sanford cruised to 6-0, 6-1 wins at No. 1 and 2 doubles.

Martha Sommers followed suit at No. 3 singles, holding on for a 7-5, 6-4 victory to secure the match.

Oregon's JV team also prevailed, rolling 10-2.

Monona Grove 7, Oregon 0
The Panthers opened the Badger South Conference season on the road, heading to Monona Grove on Tuesday.

No. 1 singles April Cook lost 4-6, 6-4, 6-4

No. 2 singles Kathryn McMannes lost 6-4, 6-2

No. 3 singles Alyssa Reifert lost 6-2, 7-5

No. 4 singles Bucheger lost 6-3, 6-1

No. 1 doubles Eyers/Sanford lost 6-3, 6-1

No. 2 doubles Jacobson/Sommers lost 6-3, 4-6, 6-2

No. 3 doubles Klahn/Klahn lost 60-, 6-1

JV: Monona Grove 10, Oregon 5. At Monona Grove.
