With the hopes of continuing to build some early-season momentum, the Oregon boys soccer team welcomed in Monona Grove Tuesday evening for a Badger South Conference opener.

For the first 40 minutes of the match the Panthers put pressure on the Silver Eagles goal, but could never find the equalizer. That trend continued into the second half, until a well-placed Mathias Thoma pass found a streaking Karl Bock, who beat MG keeper Zach Hilliard in the 66th minute, putting Oregon ahead 1-0.

"I saw it open, and I knew Mathias was going to get it to me," Bock said. "As soon as he got it to me I knew I was going to finish it in the corner.

"They had a lot of guys back in their box, but I missed a couple in the first half that I should have put away."

That score held, as Ian Christensen and the Panther defense posted their second-straight shutout victory.

"We've got to stay undefeated at home, definitely," Bock said of the Panthers' hope for home field dominance.

Oregon (2-0 overall, 1-0 Badger South) hosts DeForest Thursday for a non-conference battle.
